Assisted Living Dementia Care Programs cater exclusively to those who have some form of memory and/or cognitive impairment. Residents receive the same care, services and amenities as those in a Traditional Assisted Living Program. Higher staffing ratios allow more support for residents who require “cuing” for normal everyday activities and support a calendar rich in structured activities. Activities are simple in nature and allow for those with memory and/or cognitive impairment to participate without frustration. These programs are secured as residents may have tendencies to wander out of the building unknowingly and get lost.
Alzheimers, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Lewy Body, Vascular and Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease are the most common forms of dementia managed within an Assisted Living Memory Care Program. Alzheimers is the most prominent type of dementia.
