The Aid and Attendance (A&A) Pension Program is a Federally Funded Program for wartime Veterans and their spouses. The A&A Program provides financial assistance for those who require regular assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) from a health care worker. This may include in-home care or care within an Assisted Living Community or Nursing Home.
The 2014 reimbursement rates for the A&A Pension Program can provide up to $1,758 per month to a veteran, $1,380 to a well Veteran with an ill spouse, $1,130 per month to a surviving spouse, or $2,085 per month to a couple. In addition to having served for 90 days with one day during active wartime, must meet medical and financial eligibility requirements. Applications take approximately 6 months to process. Payment is sent directly to senior or their family and not to the community or agency providing care.
